In the past ten years, I have volunteered, contributed and collaborated on several community and global health initiatives. Currently, I am apart of several programs and initiatives. The Healthy Heart Series (HHS) was founded in 2011 by two healthcare employees. I joined the team in 2013. Montserrat Healthy Heart’s is a sister program to HHS. When possible, various team members volunteer their time to travel to Montserrat to deliver multiple types of services. New York has a citywide initiative called Take the Pressure Off , NYC. I have been an active member since January 2018. As an active member, I’ve collaborated on two programs focused on decreasing the incidence of hypertension and type 2 diabetes in the minority population. I assisted with the planning and development of TPO’s third summit, which took place in October 2019. Due to results from our pilot program, our team was invited to present both our program and results at the summit. I have been serving both central and east Harlem since 2012. Both have a longstanding history of startling health inequities, which is unfortunately fueled by the increasing poverty and inequalities. Through various programs, nutrition education, health tools and dedicated individuals all of the above can and will change. The TSF foundation will serve Harlem, Nigeria and Honduras. The first set of projects will focus on food insecurities. Future projects will focus on nutrition, mental health, educational services and bringing healthcare into the home.
